Echoes of Aincrad allows players to experience the infamous Death Game of SAO through the eyes of their own custom avatar. Like the infamous anime, players are trapped in a VRMMORPG where they ultimately discover that in-game death means death in the real world.

Set in the floating castle of Aincrad, players must embark on a journey to regain their freedom, overcoming the world’s many dangers and working with allies, including iconic characters from the SOA series, to defy death and escape virtual reality.

Gameplay revolves around fast-paced RPG action with real-time combat, allowing you to adapt and upgrade your equipment, weapons, and attributes. You can even select Sword Skills to match your preferred playstyle as they level up and take on ever-greater challenges.

As the narrative advances, companions will join you in your quest, each possessing their own unique set of skills and abilities that can be customized. Together, you’ll explore diverse cities and beautiful environments, from serene plains to perilous dungeons filled with secrets, and face fierce monsters and challenging bosses that will test your skills and resolve until the very end.

The video game version of the series debuted with Sword Art Online: End World. Since then, the franchise has sold more than 10 million units, making it one of the most successful manga and anime adaptations in gaming.

Echoes of Aincrad launches on July 10, 2026, with preorders available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
