DCS World developer Eagle Dynamics showcased work done on a “completely re-created” Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot that will be offered free of charge to everyone who downloads the simulator.
According to a newsletter shared by the developer, the aircraft will feature “a highly detailed and accurate external model and a cockpit that embodies the highest graphical standards.” That being said, it’ll be based on the Flaming Cliff series with operations focusing on ease of use to help newcomers familiarize themselves with binding and modes of operation.
As such, it’ll share the same flight dynamics of its predecessor, on top of “accurate performance, enhanced damage modeling, and new liveries.”
Below you can check out a large gallery of screenshos.
If you prefer a high-fidelity aircraft, the developer also shared something new about the Mig-29 Fulcrum, which will have a brand new pilot model. with “precision modeling and animations including uniforms, harnesses, patches, and other elements.”
Today we get to see the helmet created for said pilot, including the head-mounted sight.
If you’re unfamiliar with DCS World, it’s a free-to-play military flight simulator focusing on aviation from World War 2 to the present day. It’s available exclusively for PC on Eagle Dynamics’ own store and Steam.
While the base package is free and includes a couple of aircraft like the Frogfoot, fully enjoying the simulator requires the purchase of additional modules like aircraft and the maps mentioned above, albeit Eagle Dynamics has a solid trial and introductory discount programs, on top of frequent sales.
Just recently we saw a tease about what’s coming in 2025 and beyond (including an F-35 Lightning II and an F-15C Eagle) and a look into Eagle Dynamics’ plans for the future, including the world map and more.
