Today, Eagle Dynamics provided a development update on the much-anticipated Dynamic Campaign for the military flight simulator DCS World.
In the video below, you can see and hear from Producer Matt “Wags” Wagner as he talks about the improvements made to the Afghanistan map.
The juicier part comes in the second half as Wagner explains the progress made on the Dynamic Campaign.
We hear that work has been done on the movement of ground forces, alongside the interaction of different aircraft flights within a package.
That being said, the feature certainly still appears to be a fairly long time off.
The new update 2.9.19.13478 has also been released today, with the previously mentioned changes to the Mission state save, upgrades to AI and various weapons, and plenty of changes to several aircraft and campaigns.
It also includes the updates to the Afghanistan map and its parts, mentioned at the beginning of this post. You can read the full patch notes on the official page.
If you’re unfamiliar with DCS World, it’s a free-to-play flight simulator focusing on military aviation from World War 2 to the present day. It’s available exclusively for PC.
While the sim is free-to-play, it pretty much requires paid modules to be fully enjoyed, including aircraft, campaigns, and maps. That being said, Eagle Dynamics has a robust free trial program for said modules.

The developer also provided a look at more content coming this year and beyond, including an F-15C Eagle and an F-35 Lightning II.
