Eagle Dynamics and OnReTech announced a new map coming to the military flight simulator DCS World, featuring the Balkans.

Of course, the map is mostly dedicated to simulating NATO’s operations over Yugoslavia between 1991 and 2001, and the Serbian opposition.

The map doesn’t just include the terrain, but also plenty of coastal areas and many islands on the Adriatic Sea. Mountainous areas are also represented by the Dinaric Alps, the Apennines, and the Dolomites.

As you may have guessed, the terrain isn’t just limited to the former Yugoslavia, but it also includes parts of Italy.

Plenty of iconic cities are included, like Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Belgrade, Zagreb, and Podgorica, on top of Trieste, Bari, and even Venice on the Italian side.

There will be military airfields in Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Kosovo. The major NATO hub at Aviano Air Base will be portrayed alongside Venice Marco Polo Airport on the civilian side.

The map is expected to be released in 2026, and you can check out the first screenshots below.

If you’re unfamiliar with DCS World, it’s a free-to-play flight simulator focusing on military aviation from World War 2 to the present day. It’s available exclusively for PC.

While the sim is free-to-play, it pretty much requires paid modules to be fully enjoyed, including aircraft, campaigns, and maps. That being said, Eagle Dynamics has a robust free trial program for said modules.

Recently, the MiG-29A Fulcrum has been released in early access, while the C-130J Hercules has entered integration testing. Speaking of maps, Normandy 2.0 has just left early access.
