Darklight Games released the Italy expansion for Darkest Hour: Europe ’44-’45, with plenty of new content for veteran fans to enjoy.
The expansion is available now and adds Italy as a faction to the game, alongside new vehicles, guns, and maps.
The new vehicles may be a bit less fancy compared to what you’re used to seeing in World War II. Italy wasn’t exactly the world champion of tank building (but we made some sick fighter planes, mind you).
You can enjoy the chonky Autoblinda 41, the Autocarretta OM 32, 36P, the Carro Veloce 33 (sorry, Darklight, this one has only one “C”), the Fiat 508CM, the Fiat 626, the Fiat L6/40, the Semovente 47/32, and the Semovente 90/53.
The American faction is also getting one addition, the amphibious landing vehicle DUKW.
There are new big guns as well: The Cannone da 47/32 cannon and the Mortaio da 81/14 mod. 35 mortar.
Speaking of smaller guns, you get the Beretta mod. 34 pistol, the Breda mod. 30 machine gun, the Carcano mod. 91 and 91/38 rifle, the Fucile Controcarro 35(P) anti-tank rifle, the MAB mod. 38-A and 38-A/42 submachine gun, the OTO Tipo L anti-tank grenade, the SRCM mod. 35 fragmentation grenade, and the SRCM mod. 35 incendiary grenade.
New maps have been added as well, including Gela for 32 to 64 players, Niscemi Outkirts for 26 to 64 players, the Ponte Olivo Airfield for 32 to 64 players, San Valentino for 26 to 64 players, and Villa Cecila for 8 to 32 players.
Below, you can check out a trailer showing all these juicy weapons and maps in action. You can also read the full patch notes.
If you’re unfamiliar with Darkest Hour: Europe ’44-’45, it’s a massive and rather popular mod for Tripwire Interactive’s classic WWII Eastern Front tactical FPS Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41–45.
It’s available for free on Steam, and the original game may as well be free too, considering that it’s currently on sale for $1.64.
In other Twipwire news, the developer will soon release Killing Floor 3, following a small delay since March.
