Today, Pearl Abyss released a new overview of Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown, an upcoming DLC expansion launching October 29, 2026.

Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown adds new character storylines, ocean exploration, underwater adventures, expanded housing customization, relationship systems, and business management to the open-world action-adventure game. The expansion continues the stories of the three main characters, Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka, as players will meet new allies and enemies, reunite with familiar characters, and face new threats while uncovering more stories across the world.

One of the biggest additions is the Great Ocean of Pywel, a new explorable region featuring islands, enemy strongholds, and opportunities for resource gathering. Players can unlock shipbuilding, collect materials to build their own vessels, and customize them before setting sail. Exploration also extends beneath the waves, where new underwater traversal mechanics let players discover sunken ruins, hidden treasure, and valuable resources.

Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown also expands the social and customization systems available throughout Pywel. Players can build closer relationships with certain characters, pursue romance, and eventually marry, while companions can visit the Greymane Camp to spend time together.

Housing customization has also been expanded, allowing players to design their homes from the ground up by arranging walls, windows, and other structural elements. Additionally, liberated castles can be claimed and decorated, giving players more opportunities to personalize their surroundings.

Management features provide another way to develop a foothold across Pywel, as players can lease facilities, assign comrades and equipment, select which goods to sell, and manage their businesses to improve their reputation and profits. For players seeking a greater combat challenge, the expansion also introduces a boss gauntlet that pits them against a series of powerful enemies from across the region.

Pre-orders for Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown are available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, and all pre-orders include the in-game Charter’s Diving Set and Charter’s Light Diving Set.

Originally developed by Pearl Abyss, Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game centered on Kliff and the surviving members of the Greymanes. Following a devastating ambush by their sworn enemies, the Black Bears, Kliff sets out to reunite his scattered comrades and rebuild what was lost. His journey across Pywel leads to new alliances, dangerous factions, and a growing threat that could shape the continent’s fate.

Crimson Desert is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, starting at $69.99, having found great success since its release, already surpassing 5 million copies sold in its first month alone.
