Remedy Entertainment held its Capital Markets Day 2024 today, and several details about Control Ultimate Edition and Control 2 were announced. Plus, there were several little details about Remedy’s plans for the future and the success of its previous games.

The most shocking news discussed was that Control 2 will be an action RPG game. The original Control was an action-adventure title, and Remedy is certain that the switch to ARPG will do well with fans.

In fact, it hopes to sell 3 to 4 million copies of the game, which is being co-funded by Anapurna Interactive. This achieves 100% ROI if the group self-publishes it, which it plans to do. The group estimated the genre size to be 21 million active monthly players in the company’s market. Remedy is confident that the existing fanbase, and the potential to bring new players by switching genres, means a successful launch.

This doesn’t seem all that unrealistic, either. Later in the presentation, stats on the original Control were discussed. With 4.5 million sales and over 19 million lifetime players, the goals for Control 2 make more sense.

A release date for Control Ultime Edition on Mac was also announced. It’ll come to Mac on February 12, 2025, four-and-a-half years after the Ultimate Edition was released on PC. FBC: Firebreak will also be released in 2025, though no release date has been specified yet.

Additionally, Control will be getting a free update in early 2025. It will include bits of previously released content. Some fans are assuming this will be console-specific content, like a PS4-exclusive mission and specific gear.

Sales figures for Alan Wake 2 were also discussed. The survival horror game sold over 1.8 million copies, surpassing the original Alan Wake.

The entire Remedy Capital Markets Day 2024 can be viewed here. Both the presentation slides and speakers are shown.
