A few weeks ago, third-party developer Parallel 42 issued a limited release of its camera suite ChasePlane for Microsoft Flight Simulator only for its Club 42 members. Today, that changes.

The developer made the utility available for everyone. You can purchase it on its own website for $30.

It was originally announced with a subscription to unlock some of the features, but that plan has since been scrapped, and that one purchase gets you everything with no time limitations.

If you’re unfamiliar with ChasePlane, it was one of the most requested utilities for Microsoft Flight Simulator, but it couldn’t be implemented before due to limitations of the camera API. The situation has recently changed, and Parallel 42 finally managed to launch its most popular product.

It was originally launched in 2016 for the venerable Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and now every MSFS 2020 user can purchase and enjoy it.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 users will have to wait a while longer, as the dedicated version is in development. While no dates or timeframes have been announced, you’ll get the upgrade at no additional cost when it launches, if you purchase the MSFS 2020 version.

Below, you can read a list of features you can expect from ChasePlane.

  • Custom Views: Create and save unlimited custom views inside and outside the cockpit, allowing you to explore every angle of your virtual world or aircraft.
  • Cinematics Mode: Activate Cinematics™ mode with a single click and enjoy the show, effortlessly generating stunning visuals while cruising.
  • FlyBy Mode: Experience your aircraft in motion from a ground perspective, adding a new dimension to your flight simulation.
  • Tower Cam™ View: Simulate air traffic control perspectives with fixed tower views, enhancing realism.
  • Physics-Based Camera Motion: Experience a new level of realism with physics-based camera motion that dynamically responds to the aircraft’s environment, not by altering the flight model but by embracing it.
  • Community Integration: Import views from a global community of users or shared by your favorite content creators, making it easy to find the perfect views for your aircraft.
  • Cloud Backups: Your settings, groups, and views are always safe with our cloud system, ensuring you never lose your personalized configurations.
  • and more…

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is currently available for PC and Xbox Series X|S (albeit ChasePlane exists only for PC).

The older sim is still used by many, albeit Microsoft is currently focusing on improving and developing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. If you want to see some of the differences between the two sims, you can enjoy our video and screenshot comparison.
