The video showcases several different gameplay modes, including the New Stars story mode that lets you create your own player with full customization, including visuals and techniques. You can also create a goalkeeper if you so wish.

The Legendary/Advanced story mode features brand new stories featuring matches that were not included in the original manga and anime.

The Rivals Episode story mode focuses on side stories about Tsubasa’s rivals.

There are also practice and training modes that let you learn the game’s mechanics, while the collection unlocks music and videos, on top of trivia on players. On the other hand, the shop lets you unlock various cosmetics with points earned in-game.

The last part of the video showcases the teams included in the game and their players.

Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters will release on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on August 28.

If you’re unfamiliar with Captain Tsubasa, it’s a manga series by Yoichi Takahashi that debuted in 1981 and sparked a massively popular anime that has been part of the childhood of multiple generations in many nations from the eighties onward.

If you were a kid in Europe back then, watching Captain Tsubasa was most likely one of your favorite daily routines, so you certainly don’t need me to tell you what it is about. In that case, you’re already a teary mess like I am right now anyway.

If you want to see more, you can check out the original reveal that happened during a recent Nintendo Direct, another trailer showing the gameplay systems, one focusing on the story, and another showing gameplay.
