Today, Bandai Namco announced the release date of its upcoming anime soccer game, Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters.
The game will release on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on August 28, with pre-orders starting today.
Alongside the announcement of the release date, we got the story trailer, showing off many of the familiar protagonists of the World Youth Arc of the original anime and manga, and I promise you, if you are even remotely a fan of the series, you’d better bring a hankie or an ample supply of tissues because they really distilled every bit of epic they could into this one.
If you don’t believe me, you can check it out below.
Bandai Namco also released a brief interview video with Yoichi Takahashi, the creator of the original anime, as he shares his insight about Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters.
If you’re unfamiliar with Captain Tsubasa, it’s a manga series by Yoichi Takahashi that debuted in 1981 and sparked a massively popular anime that has been part of the childhood of multiple generations in many nations from the eighties onward.
If you were a kid in Europe back then, watching Captain Tsubasa was most likely one of your favorite daily routines, so you certainly don’t need me to tell you what it is about. In that case, you’re already a teary mess like I am right now anyway.
If you want to see more, you can check out the original reveal that happened during a recent Nintendo Direct, and another trailer showing the gameplay systems.
