Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a ground-up rebuild that supports 60 FPS gameplay, HDR, Dolby Atmos audio, DualSense haptics, and multiple graphics modes on both PS5 and PS5 Pro. Unlike the original 2014 PS4 release, this version adds fully dynamic lighting powered by hardware-accelerated ray tracing.

With improved ray tracing, lighting now responds in real time to weather, time of day, and environmental changes. Ubisoft confirms that ray-traced global illumination is available in all graphics modes on both PlayStation 5 models.

On the other hand, Ray-traced reflections are supported in Balanced and Fidelity modes on PS5, and in every graphics mode on PS5 Pro.

Ubisoft has also replaced the original level-of-detail system with a new micropolygon geometry pipeline with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Instead of swapping between different model qualities as players move through the world, the new technology continuously adjusts detail based on distance and camera position, reducing visible pop-in while using the PS5’s high-speed SSD.

Players on the PlayStation 5 Pro will receive additional upgrades beyond those on the base version. These include expanded ray tracing support across all modes, improved PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), and strand-based hair rendering for Edward Kenway throughout the game.

In Fidelity mode, nearby NPCs also use strand-based hair simulation, and all characters feature the upgraded hair technology in cinematics.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced also introduces Anvil’s Atmos weather simulation, dynamically modeling temperature, humidity, wind, and vapor density. These features affect cloud movement, storms, vegetation, cloth physics, sails, particles, and character hair, creating a more dynamic and lifelike world.

The ocean and ship aspects have been completely overhauled with a physically based water rendering system. New tessellation, volumetric foam, and dynamic bubble effects make the sea react naturally to weather and ship movement, enhancing exploration and naval combat.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches July 9, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 5 Pro. For more news about the game, including accessibility info, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily till its release in a few weeks.
