Omeda Studios just fully released its new free-to-play MOBA Predecessor, and it’s certainly a unique story within the genre.

The game has its roots in Paragon, the MOBA released by Epic Games in 2016 and discontinued in 2018. It also grew from what can be defined as a community effort.

Yet, shortly after its full launch on August 20, it appears that Predecessor might follow a very different (and more successful) trajectory compared to its predecessor (lowercase P. Yes. I made a pun) with over 2 million players.

To hear more about this interesting story and Omedia Studios’ plans for the future, Simulation Daily talked at Gamescom 2024 with Lead Producer Simon Hadasch and Communications Director Olivia Fajardo.

We hear about Predecessor’s interesting origin story and Omeda’s plans for esports. How the game has been received and insight on what makes it different from the rest of the MOBA offering and from Paragon.

You can watch the full interview below. Of course, we’d appreciate it if you could hit that like button and subscribe to our brand-new YouTube channel.

If you’re unfamiliar with Predecessor, it’s a MOBA that has just launched its 1.0 version on August 20, 2024. It’s available for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PS4.

The game includes 38 playable heroes and a ranked mode has recently been made available. Incidentally, if you want to see the trailer mentioned in the interview (and the tease hinted at) you can find it on Predecessr’s official YouTube channel.

If you’re interested in hearing about more MOBAs, we also have another interview from Gamescom 2024, focusing on Hi-Rez Studios’ SMITE 2, which has recently moved to a 24/7 alpha.
