Today, Bethesda officially launched the first story expansion for its hit space action-RPG, Starfield. The Shattered Space DLC is available now, September 30, 2024, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, featuring all-new storylines, locations, enemies, and gameplay, allowing players to explore the mysteries surrounding the homeworld of House Va’ruun and the elusive followers of the Great Serpent.
It is worth noting that Shattered Space is included in the Starfield Premium Edition and Premium Edition Upgrade, as well as the Starfield Constellation Edition, and will need to be purchased separately if you play the title via Game Pass. If you plan on purchasing it separately, you will be looking at a price point of $29.99.
Alongside the story DLC, update 1.14.70 also implements helpful quality-of-life gameplay changes. Numerous bugs have been taken care of in questlines, while the REV-8 vehicle and ship builder features get some helpful tweaks that players will surely appreciate.
For example, a new option has been added to the game settings to allow for toggling Flip Merge behavior use while in ship builder. Kaiser and Vasco will also no longer both sit in the Rev-8 when following the player. You can see the full list of patch notes for Starfield update 1.14.70 here.
Since it was released last year on September 6, 2023, Starfield received generally positive praise from critics and fans, though many were disappointed by its overall story and focus on quantity over quality when it came to the makeup of each planet. Despite this, the action RPG still reached its all-time concurrent player base peak of 330,000 while also being played by over 13 million people since last December.
