Esteemed developer Remedy Entertainment announced today that they are forming a strategic partnership with Annapurna Interactive, another well known developer and indie publisher in the gaming industry, in order to expand the world of Control. Each development sides of the company will be responsible for funding half of the next installment in the series, Control 2.

Earlier this year, Remedy purchased the rights to the Control series from 505 Games. While they’ll be working to fund the project with Annapurna, Remedy Entertainment still has the full IP rights for both Control and Alan Wake.

The news comes just a week after Hector Sanchez (Epic Games) rejoined Annapurna as President of Interactive and New Media. In this new role, he will partner with company founder and CEO Megan Ellison to develop IP across mediums.

As such, it is no coincidence that the blog post revealed that groups are also working together on potential television or film series adaptations for both series. Alan Wake 2 Creative Director Sam Lake shared his excitement for the opportunity to expand the Remedy Connected Universe, stating, “I’m absolutely thrilled (yes!) by this opportunity to expand the story of Alan Wake. I trust Annapurna are the perfect partner for us to make this dream come true.”

While there has been no timeframe given for either Control 2 or the possible silver screen adaptations, Remedy stated they are hard at work at getting the sequel to fans as quickly as possible. For more information on each, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
