Today, Nintendo UK’s YouTube channel unveiled some exciting news for JRPG fans. Set your calendars for March 20, 2025, if you love Xenoblade Chronicles X, as Monolith Soft announced they are developing a Definitive Edition that is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch on that date.

The spin-off Xenoblade title originally came out on the Wii U in 2015 and is widely regarded by fans as one of the strongest games in the series. The Nintendo Switch port of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will feature enhanced visuals and a handful of new story elements. Its arrival on the console also marks it as the final game in the series to be ported or re-released, meaning every game in the Xenoblade series can now be played on the Switch.

The game takes place in 2054, placing players in an intergalactic war between two alien races. Earth has been destroyed, and humanity is on the brink of annihilation. As a member of BLADE, an organization tasked with saving humanity, you must pilot your Skell – a powerful machine that can fly, transform into a vehicle, and wield immense strength in combat – to defeat your enemies.

You’ll use various special attacks, skills, and classes, all of which you can customize via the branching JRPG combat system. Alongside combat, you’ll meet new party members, unlock unique story quests, and do everything you can to aid reconstruction efforts for the city of New Los Angeles.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is available now for pre-order, exclusively on Nintendo Switch, at a price of £49.99.
