Today popular Polish developer CD Projekt, known for the Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 franchises, announced its financial results for the first half of 2024, related to the period between January and July.
According to the official documents, revenue for the period was 424.812 million PLN, up 31% year-on-year. The growth was mainly driven by solid sales of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Phantom Liberty expansion.
Net profit was 170 million PLN, up a massive 88% year-on-year. The company allocated over 150 million PLN (about $39 million) to work on its future projects.
We also learn that the team working on the next Witcher game codenamed Polaris, “made substantial progress” and will “soon” complete pre-production and enter the full production phase.
The game, in development in Unreal Engine 5, has been pre-production for quite a while.
As you can see below, the updated team headcount as of July 31 is 410 developers working on Polaris among the company’s updated total of 639.
The new studio in Boston is working on Orion, the next Cyberpunk 2077 game, and the team of 60 including CD Projekt veterans aided by fresh hires has been “busy” laying the groundwork for the game.
If you’re wondering, the project marked as “Hadar” is a mysterious new IP.
