Described as a survival-infused strategy game, Aztecs: The Last Sun places you in the role of an Aztec leader in trying to build the city state of Tenochtitlan, and you must lead your people to glory. As a leader, you’ll be faced with decisions that’ll have a critical impact on your reputation or affect your people’s well-being, as you can be a tyrant or a man of the people.

You’ll be able to plan, build, and design your own empire as you face plenty of architectural, economic, and logistical challenges unique to the 13th and 16th centuries AD. Build monumental temples, raise a powerful army, and ensure that your people’s needs are fulfilled by creating sophisticated production chains or sacrifice your people to the gods for fame and favor.

Alongside the challenges of building your empire, every night you’ll also need to fend off the wrath of the Moon Goddess. When she attacks the city, and only those shielded in the bloodzone are able to withstand her fury, you’ll need to be sure that your settlement has enough stored blood to maintain it. To avoid succumbing to her power, your priests must maintain a steady supply of the precious lifeforce, for you and Tenochtitlan will fall with the temple.

Currently, Aztecs: The Last Sun is only planned to release on PC. For more information on this and other topics, for those interested in historical city-builders, like Tlatoani: Aztec Cities and These Doomed Isles, be sure to stay posted to Simulation Daily.
