The P-51C-10 became the primary long-range escort fighter of the Allies in WW2, and it’ll serve the same purpose in Ace of Thunder. It is extremely fast, relatively light, and long-range, and it excelled at providing cover for formations of B-17s and B-24s during strikes against targets deep within Germany.

It even features a powerful engine and superior aerodynamics, giving the Mustang high speed and range, effectively changing the rules of aerial warfare. The P-51C-10 accelerates quickly, maintains cruising speed confidently, and accelerates superbly in a dive, while also boasting four 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine guns with a total of 1,260 rounds of ammunition and a rate of fire of approximately 750 rounds per minute per gun.

In Aces of Thunder, the Mustang will be decorated with historical decals and the number 78 “Kitten” camouflage or the “Topper III” camouflage. Players will use it as part of the War Stories Campaign, leading high-altitude escort missions to intercept approaching interceptors, disrupt their attacks, and return to altitude, maintaining energy and control of the skies.

Aces of Thunder is set to release on February 3, 2026, on PC and PlayStation 5, including PlayStation VR2.
