Last week, rumors were heavily circulating that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion would be getting an official remaster, and that it would be released today, Monday, April 21, in a surprise shadow drop. While the game may not have been released as expected, the official X account did tease an announcement for tomorrow at 11 AM EST.

The tweet states that the announcement will happen via the official Bethesda Twitch and YouTube accounts in a livestream, while also showing the roman numeral IV and what is clearly the helmet of a guard from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The fourth installment in the Elder Scrolls series was originally released back in 2006 and is still held in wide regard by gamers as one of the most influential action RPGs of the last few decades, despite also being released between two other beloved titles in the series: Morrowind and Skyrim. Fans loved the game so much that a modding project was started to port it into the modern Skyrim engine.

Known as Skyblivion, the goal of this mod was to take the assets of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and port them into the Creation Engine that was used to make The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Once word broke that there might possibly be a remaster on the way within the next few weeks, the developers behind the mod stated that not only would the project still be releasing in 2025, but that they were thrilled to be getting a remake of one of their favorite games, and that people should refrain from comparing the two if both do indeed release this year.
