Pocketpair, the developer and publisher of Palworld, has announced that the long-awaited crossplay update is coming at the end of the month, giving players a chance to play with friends no matter what system they’re on.
In the past (and until this update releases at the end of the month), Palworld has only let players on the same devices play together. The only exception to this was between PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass — those players have always been able to play together. Even PC players had to be on the same platform to play together, like Steam or PC Game Pass.
A large reason for this was that different versions of the game were found on different devices. For instance, Steam was slightly ahead in getting updates for a bit compared to Xbox (and the PC version via Game Pass).
What this should mean is that all versions of the game will be updated together from now on. This isn’t guaranteed, but that should be the case for all the versions to work together.
The crossplay update for Palworld will be released in late March, though no exact date has been announced. It will include all platforms the game is on, which means Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Mac.
This is just the start of upcoming updates. Pocketpair released a roadmap for Palworld in January to celebrate the game’s first anniversary. A month later, the game hit 32 million players between Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5, despite the legal action Nintendo is trying to take against the game.
