Nintendo has revealed the release date for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, the upcoming platformer and creature-collecting title for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Despite today being Mario Day 2026, Nintendo shared a trailer for one of Mario’s companion’s games, Yoshi. The trailer gives fans a new look at the creature-collecting aspect of the platformer, confirming a release date at the same time.
In Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, players are put in Yoshi’s shoes as it travels through Mr. E, a mysterious book a group of Yoshi encountered. The book has pages of mysterious creatures that Yoshi can find, work with, research, and even eat to gain more abilities.
Some of these abilities include creating flowers and blowing bubbles, adding even more whimsy to the cel-shaded art style that separates Mr. E’s pages from the real world.
These creatures can then be named, or players can use Mr. E’s suggested name for each one. As players encounter creatures and get through the platforming parts, they’ll earn stars. These stars can unlock new pages and new creatures.
Players can check out the latest Yoshi and the Mysterious Book trailer below, which also ends with a look at Bowser Jr:
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on May 21, 2026.
