Nintendo has released a new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, showcasing a bit more gameplay and cutscenes, even teasing additional story content.

The trailer, dubbed The Year is 2054, introduces new players to part of the story of Xenoblade Chronicles X. A space ship crash landed on a planet, breaking into pieces and scattering as it entered the atmosphere. People were trapped in these pieces, stuck in stasis, and players will need to search for them.

The player and their crewmembers are trying to survive and thrive on the new planet, but they’re forced into combat with an alien race. The trailer shows off how this story will look on the Switch. This includes gorgeous cutscenes and beautiful combat that the Xenoblade series is known for.

Of course, players got a first look at gameplay and saw new additions. The UI has been updated (a major point for fans of the original game), and new features like a combo guide in combat were shown.

That’s not all, either. Thanks to the original announcement, fans knew that there would be extra story content. However, a tease at the end of the new trailer gives players fuel to theorize what that story will be.

Fans can view the Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition trailer below:

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will be released on the Nintendo Switch on March 20. Players can already pre-purchase the game. Once it’s released, all of the Xenoblade Chronicles games will be on the Switch, making it easy for new players to hop into the franchise.
