Today Microsoft hosted the Xbox Developer Direct 2025, providing a look at a number of games coming to its platforms, and also to platforms that aren’t Microsoft’s, including the return of the beloved Ninja Gaiden.
If you couldn’t watch it live, the livestream is available on-demand, but we’re recapping all the relevant news and reveals here for your comfortable perusal.
Without further ado, let’s get to the news.
We start strong with Xbox Game Studios Publishing and Koei Tecmo’s Team Ninja Revealing Ninja Gaiden 4, which will also be co-developed by PlatinumGames
The game will have a new protagonist, Yakumo, who is a member of a ninja clan rival to Ryu Hayabusa’s. That being said, both will be playable and will fight using different styles.
It’s coming for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC in fall 2025.

Yet, that wasn’t the only announcement from Team Ninja, that also revealed Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a definitive edition of Ninja Gaiden 2 remastered in Unreal Engine 5.
The most exciting part is that it’s releasing today on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Game Pass.
Next on the menu is Compulsion Games with South of Midnight, showing off plenty of gameplay. We also hear that the game is coming on April 8, 2025, for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass.

We then hear from Sandfall Interactive which provided an extended look at Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which also got its release date.
It’s coming on April 24, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, on top of Game Pass.

It was then the turn of id Software to show off Doom: The Dark Ages. Not only do we get to see plenty of brutal gameplay worthy of the Doom series, but also plenty of brand-new weapons and mechanics that create a new combat loop.
We also see the Atlan mecha and the dragon, both of which have their own abilities and their own minibosses to fight.
We hear about the world, the music, and even the story, which is defined as “big” and has plenty of cutscenes to enjoy.
A release date has been announced for Doom: The Dark Ages as well, and it’s May 15, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. Of course, the game is also coming to Game Pass.
