This follows a minor update numbered 12.3.2, which partially introduced the X-Plane Store for Demo Users only, and enabled web and in-app purchases of X-Plane 12 via the Store, as a significant milestone toward the full implementation of the add-on store.

12.4.0 will be much bigger, and will be dubbed the “C-Check” update, as explained in the official announcement, as it’ll include a “comprehensive check-over of the sim, aircraft, and avionics.”

The Airbus A330 will get further upgrades, including the third MCDU, Hoppie Integration, improvements to the hydraulic system, and to the autopilot.

The GNS 430 and 530 will also be improved with weather radar and TCAS overlays, an airport will be enhanced, and more.

Beyond 12.4.0, Laminar mentioned that “next-gen scenery is its top priority,” but it’s not an easy task, as the current system is 20 years old and moving to a more modern one requires a significant amount of work.

That being said, Laminar claims that the previous updates included elements either openly or quietly to get closer to that goal.

Of course, the aforementioned X-Plane Store is also a relevant priority, although that’s still a way off as well.

If you’re unfamiliar with X-Plane, it’s a flight simulator by Laminar Research, available for PC, while a mobile version is also available.

The latest major update was the “Weather Update,” numbered 12.3.0.
