GeGeGe no Kitaro Game Announced
Toei Animation announced a new game developed by indie studio Toydium titled Noroi Kago GeGeGe no Yoru. The game is based on the ultra-popular horror manga by Shigeru Mizuki GeGeGe no Kitaro.
It’ll come to Steam in 2025 and it’s actually coming in English as well. Strangely, the Western description and title lose every reference to the manga.
The localized title is Noroi Kago: the Grudged Domain and the game is described as follows.
Noroi Kago: the Grudged Domain is a survival co-op horror game based around the theme of yokai. These are supernatural beings which stem from traditional Japanese folklore. The game allows for co-operative play for up to four players where the aim is to escape from an enclosed space in which yokai roam.
Of course, despite the removal of the explicit references to the manga, the protagonist appearing in the trailer is still plenty recognizable. The game will be exhibited at Tokyo Game Show.
