Ramjet Studios has just released the Vein update 0.017, which adds a handful of new features and fixes for the up-and-coming open-world zombie survival game.

Vein update 0.017 is a bit smaller than previous patches, mostly because it has come out just a month after update 0.016 was released. With that said, a faster release cycle for each release isn’t necessarily set in stone, and is all based on the amount of content that is coming out.

One of the first big changes in the new scent component. Dangerous locations like swamps now have a smell attached to them, meaning they’ll attract zombies in a similar manner to how rotten food or corpses will.

Speaking of bad smells, fluids can now decay, meaning milk will spoil if you hold on to it too long or don’t store it correctly. On the flip side, putrid and dirty water have been merged into just water, and dirty and clean engine oil have been merged into just engine oil.

Each of these merged items now have percentages that go from 0 to 100 percent, with lower qualities providing lower output or similar debuffs to the previous items. Several fixes include adjusting reload animations, increasing sprinkler fluids from sprinklers for plants, and making sure zombies receive damage when being run over by vehicles.

On the administration side of things, a ban management system has now been added to the menu. Admins can now unban players without needing to look through the server files, saving them a lot of time and energy.

Vein is currently free to play on PC in early access and will also be available on Xbox Series X|S when it is officially released. You can also head over to the official Steam page for the full list of fixes, changes, and improvements coming with the update.
