This past weekend saw the Grand Finals of Valorant Champions Paris, the premier international championship for the FPS, and besides crowning a victor, the event also revealed the next Agent, Veto.
Veto is a Sentinel from Senegal who focuses on shutting down enemy utility. Riot Games explained his abilities on X, giving players a look at how he’ll be played. His first ability, Crosscut, puts down a teleport that he can reactivate to go back to. Not only is this great for getting around the map, it also gives Veto a way to get to unsuspected angles.
Interceptor, his next ability, throws an orb that, when activated, will destroy enemy utility in an area. This includes anything that can bounce off a player or anything that can be shot and destroyed. The two examples shown off in his ability breakdown are Gecko’s ult and Raze’s grenade, but this will apply to nearly all enemy utility that’s used to take space.
Veto’s next ability, Chokehold, places a trap on the ground that deafens and decays enemies who step in it.
Last but not least is Evolution, Veto’s ultimate ability. This is an instant ability that gives him a combat stim, regeneration, and makes him immune to any debuff. This lasts all round, and it makes him immune to damage that comes from abilities that don’t behave like guns. For example, Raze’s rocket won’t hurt him, but Jett’s knives or Neon’s ultimate will.
Veto stands out among Sentinels for being able to shut down enemies effectively, and his Crosscut ability makes him a threat that can be around the map as needed. He could very well shake the meta up.

Of course, the Grand Finals of Valorant Champions Paris had more going on than just the next Agent reveal. Eight teams participated over the past weekend, and NRG fought its way to the top after nearly five hours of Grand Finals play against Fnatic alone.

However, the five Finals games weren’t the only ones NRG and Fnatic played against each other this weekend. The Valorant Champions Paris is a double-elimination bracket, and both teams were also the finalists for the Upper Bracket. NRG won this first match against them in two games, sending NRG to the Lower Bracket, where the team fought back to the Grand Finals stage for a rematch.
