Instead of arriving on January 29, 2026, Uboat Type IX: Distant Coasts DLC ($16.99) and the free 2026.1 title update will now arrive on April 17, 2026. The developers stated numerous reasons for needing additional time, including stability, compatibility, and additional features.

From a stability standpoint, the extra time is needed to fix several issues introduced by the new content and ensure a smoother gameplay experience. The delay will also ensure that the Uboat update features better compatibility with existing save games, as a few issues initially slipped under the radar leading up to the upcoming release window.

It isn’t all bad news, as the extra time will allow them to add gameplay elements that couldn’t be fit into the schedule, including the highly requested external water-tight torpedo canisters.

U-boat is a submarine simulator from the WWII era, originally released in 2024 for PC (Steam). In this survival sandbox, players must manage a crew of mechanics who are currently living and working on German submarines during the war. Alongside living through unprecedented situations and managing a unique damage system, players are also responsible for maintaining the physical and mental well-being of the crew, requiring you to manage elements like hunger, morale, and health to keep everyone ready and sharp for skirmishes.

The Type IX: Distant Coasts DLC will bring the long-awaited Type IX U-boat to the game, opening up new strategic possibilities and historical theaters of war, including three new timetables:

  • Type IXA: The earliest vessel of this class, deployable as early as 1939. It features three periscopes and enhanced capacity for long-range operations.
  • Type IXC: A significantly improved version with expanded fuel capacity for extended patrols in distant waters and a capability of supporting three conning tower configurations.
  • Type IXC/40: The pinnacle of the IX series. Capable of the longest operational range, this variant in UBOAT comes standard with a quick diving forecastle and an armored conning tower for increased survivability.

Uboat is currently available on Steam for a discounted price of $8.99 (70% off). For more information on this and other unique WW2 simulators, be sure to check out the rest of Simulation Daily for news.
