Boeing AH-64 Apache Announced for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and MSFS 2020

KwijFlight announced the “Hunter,” which is basically a Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopter with its name changed, likely for legal reasons.

According to the developer, it’s developed with balance between accessibility and depth in mind. It includes the following features:

  • Custom cockpit and external lighting
    • Dimmable custom cockpit flood and integral lighting
    • Switch between white and red exterior strobe effect
    • Dimmable navigation lights
  • Fuel management system
    • Auto tank transfer to keep the helicopter in balance
    • Manual tank balancing in the event of system failures
  • Flight control stability system and autopilot
    • This system takes advantage of reading and writing to multiple aircraft variables in real time to provide pitch stability and autohover mode, so you can focus on the mission
    • Engine and avionics damage modelling during mission situations
  • Communications suite including custom mission interactions
    • Fully function coms on VHF1 and 2
    • Simulated IDM (Improved Data Modem) for mission management

Functioning cannon, missiles, and rockets will be included, but won’t work in the version on the official marketplace, where they’ll be static as usual. You even have a IHADSS (Integrated Helmet and Display Sight System) at your disposal.

A mission manager is included, letting you create random missions which will spawn 1-8 targets approximately 25km away from your position. You can destroy them with your weapons. If you stick close to a target too long, you’ll receive damage. This too won’t be available on the official marketplace.

Sounds have been created by Echo 19 Audio Productions and recorded from a real AH-64, and visual effects have been included for immersion.

This includes smoke pouring from the engines, flickering systems, and visible degradation across the airframe (reflecting the severity of the impacts). The aircraft also “kicks up thick dust clouds over dirt, stirs debris through tall grass, and sprays water when skimming the surface of lakes or rivers.”

The aircraft doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s coming “soon.”
