Boeing 737-800 by PMDG for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Gets First Exterior Screenshots

PMDG finally released the first screenshots of the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 version of the 737-800.

We also get an interesting, although empirical, performance comparison from PMDG’s Mathijs Kok.

The blurred entries in the table are related to other payware add-ons.

Boeing 737-400 Classic v2 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Gets New Screenshots

CSS revealed on Discord the first screenshots of version 2 of its 737-400 classic, featuring an entirely new model built from the ground up, taking advantage of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s features.

That being said, the fuselage in the screenshots is still the V1 model, while wings, stabilizers, and engines are the new ones. Of course, the fuselage is in the process of being rebuilt as well.

We hear directly from the developers:

“Wings

The new wing model is far from complete, but it is already pretty impressive to look at. We’ve ensured a correct wing profile, proper control surface proportions and modeled intricate details, all of which make the new model truly realistic.

A lot of time has gone into fine tuning the animations so that all of the tiny parts work together as one. We have a lot of work ahead of us, namely on the inner parts of the wings and general detailing, but we trust you’ll enjoy what we have to show you today.

Engines

Work on the engines is also well underway – we’ve made an entirely new nacelle and pylon and are currently adding details to it. In the next few days we’re hoping to move onto the reversers and fan blades.

It is cleasrly apparent from the comparison screenshots that the new engine model looks significantly better and is more true to life.

Stabilizers

We’ve shown you the stabilizers in some of our previous posts, but today we want to highlight the comparison to the current model. Pay close attention to the gap seals – the grey aerodynamic covers on the elevator and rudder – those are also now properly modeled.

Thanks to this level of detail, the tail of the airplane looks and feels alive – smooth transitions between surfaces, intricate gaps, correct control surface behavior – all of it signifies the level of detail we are aiming for in V2.

Frankly, we can’t wait to finish working on the model and move onto texturing, where the real magic happens. Every rivet, every line, every panel will be drawn with utmost accuracy.”
