A year ago today, Frogwares announced that its Lovecraftian-inspired sci-fi mystery would officially be getting a sequel. Today, The Sinking City 2 not only launched its Kickstarter project but also already eclipsed its $108k funding goal.

So far, The Sinking City 2 has raised $144,093 off of 1,359 backers, with 29 days left to go in its campaign. The project has numerous different tiers that each come with various perks and rewards, including:

  • Limited & Collector’s Editions – packed with exclusive physical & digital content
  • Closed playtesting – Get early hands-on access and help shape the game!
  • Exclusive behind-the-scenes updates & community challenges
  • Want to be immortalized in Arkham? Some reward tiers let you leave your mark in the game (Name on Arkham Cemetery Gravestone or In-game weapon named after you)

Alongside the Kickstarter, Frogwares also gave a look into what you can expect story and gameplay-wise in The Sinking City 2. The sequel is a third-person survival horror game that takes place in an otherworldly Lovecraftian version of the 1920s United States.

Your goal is to navigate the flooded streets of Arkham, surviving encounters with Eldritch abominations known as The Great One Ones while investigate the dark mysteries that haunt this eerie world. A key element to unearthing those mysteries can be accomplished by finding optional clues scattered across the setting, which unlock new secret ways to progress and various gameplay bonuses.

Along the way, you’ll find plenty of resources to help you on your journey. These important items allow you to upgrade inventory, craft extra items, and boost your perks to stay alive for as long as possible.

The first installment was released back in 2019 and received praise for its dedication to telling an authentic, story-driven horror about Lovecraftian mythos. Alongside The Sinking City, Frogwares has also garnered a reputation in the industry thanks to its work on the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series, which sold around 7 million copies worldwide.

The Sinking City 2 will be released on PC (Steam, EGS, GOG), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While there is no concrete release date as of yet, playtests are scheduled for some point in 2025, so keep an eye out for any news on access or a public demo.
