During the livestream, executive producer Katsuhiro Harada shared a few words about the state of the game, acknowledging that the drastic changes that came with Season 2 have not been received “all that enthusiastically” by the Tekken competitive scene.

The development team “completely understands that” and will make some changes. Specifically, a new balance update will come next week, which will also bring changes to the matchmaking logic.

Following the update, the developers intend to monitor the situation and continue to make changes as needed.

You can find a summary of the balance changes on the official site alongside a list of the tweaks to be made to ranked matches. The update, numbered 2.01, will come on May 13, while another, numbered 2.02, will come on June 3.

The full patch notes will be revealed on the day of the patch.

In terms of new content, we get to see new free and paid costumes, a new stage themed after Pac-Man and named Pac-Pixels, alongside more content dedicated to the old and beloved franchise.

Last, but not least, we get the reveal of the next character, Fahkumram, who returns after his debut as DLC for Tekken 7 and will come in the Summer as the second character of Season 2, following Anna Williams. Two more characters will follow in the Fall and Winter.

You can watch the trailer below.

Tekken 8 is currently available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. Speaking of tournaments, we already know that it’ll be featured at the Esports World Cup 2025 and EVO 2025 this summer.
