The Esports World Cup 2025 is in full swing, and the first winners have been crowned following the final round of the Rennsport championship.
The finals, hosted on the fourth day of four of competition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, saw the rather clear cut victory of BMW M Team Redline Red Bull Sim Racing.
The winning team, formed by Jeffrey Rietveld, Kevin Siggy, Luke Bennet, and Sebastian Job, brought home $200,000 in prize pool after achieving 374 points at the end of the race.
Ranked second was Virtus.Pro with 256 points, while Team Vitality ended the finals in third place, with 168 points.
While Job won the last race, as a crowning jewel of the team’s performance, Luke Bennet was awarded as the Tournament MVP, alongside a $10,000 prize.
The rest of the ranking saw Porsche Coanda in 4th place, Atlassian Williams Sim Race in 5th place, MOUZ in 6th place, Team Falcons in 7th place, BS+Competition in 8th Place, and Mercedes-AMG Esports Team MSI in 9th Place.
In case you missed the final round, which was livestreamed earlier today, you can watch the recording on demand below. It certainly was a spectacular competition, showing once again the vitality of racing simulation as an Esport.
In a press release sent to Simulation Daily to celebrate the win, we hear a comment from Siggy, who praised the Redline’s teamwork.
“It’s all about teamwork, and we had it all the time, every single race we did the best that we could, especially in the races we came back from poor qualifying. I’m very happy we achieved it, it’s a back to back. I said two days ago that we are going to do it, and we did. We are simply the best.”
We also hear from Bennett.
“It’s incredible, I’ve never won any kind of driver’s or solo championship, so to win the MVP award is almost a different way of winning that kind of thing. I’m super happy to win the MVP award, but also, it would be rude to say that all my teammates don’t deserve it, too. They’ve all been incredible, it’s not a one-man team, there’s four of us”
This is just the first final of the Esports World Cup, which will last several weeks. Tomorrow, we’ll know the winners of the tournament dedicated to SNK’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
If you’re unfamiliar with Rennsport, it’s a racing simulator by Competition Company and Teyon, currently available for PC. A PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version will release this year under Nacon’s umbrella.
