The Sumo Group, a parent company to Sumo Digital and Secret Mode, announced that it’ll no longer focus on developing original IP. Instead, it’ll focus on the group’s bread and butter: offering development services to its partners.

Sumo Digital, the development side of the Sumo Group, has worked with over 50 partners on over 100 games. These titles include Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Team Sonic Racing, Fishing Sim World: Pro Tour, and Forza Horizon 4.

It’s made up of 16 studios around the world, and it’s been developing games across four generations of consoles, including mobile and PC.

Sumo Digital’s latest IP is Critter Café, and past games include Snake Pass.

The partner work has been more significant for the Sumo Group, which is one of the factors that fueled the decision to stop working on its original IP.

The Sumo Group has assured partners that this change won’t impact them in the slightest. In fact, the group is hopeful that this decision will steer it to becoming an even stronger development partner.

However, the transition away from original IP development will inevitably impact some of the people within the group. The Sumo Group has promised that it’s doing everything it can to retain as many people affected as possible while supporting anyone who could lose their job over the decision.
