As promised earlier this week, Spike Chunsoft and Mages released the first trailer of the upcoming Steins;Gate remake simply titled Steins;Gate Re:Boot.
We get to see the remade version of the iconic scene with Rintaro and Mayuri Shiina at the beginning of the game, on top of a look at the cast redesigned by Huke.
The visuals certainly look familiar, but the modernization is also quite visible. It feels nostalgic and quite new at the same time.
You can check it out below and see if you feel the same way.
Steins;Gate Re:Boot is releasing for PC via Steam in 2026. It’ll also come to North America and Europe. If you want to see more, you can check out recent screenshots.
The character design, artwork, and user interface have been completely refreshed, and the story has been expanded with new content. It was originally announced for 2025, but it has been recently delayed.
If you’re unfamiliar with Steins;Gate, it’s the second game of the Science Adventure franchise by Mages, following Chaos;Head, and it’s arguably the most popular.
Following its release for Xbox 360, it has been launched on several more platforms across PC and consoles. It also received an anime series in 2011 that multiplied its popularity, and the new version Steins;Gate Elite, which uses visuals from the anime itself.
A proper sequel, Steins;Gate 0, was also released in 2015.
The visual novel is so popular that it has expanded to pretty much every form of media in Japan, and it’s considered by many to be one of the best games in the genre ever created.
