Today Bethesda released a sizable video focusing on the upcoming Starfield expansion titled Shattered Space.
The video introduces the reclusive House Va’ruun and their homeworld, Va’Ruun’kai, which is completely handcrafted alongside its capital city of Dazra.
We hear about the story behind the expansion, which will see us investigate the secrets of the isolated planet and its mysterious culture.
We see the dangers of the planet coming from the vortex that gives the expansion its title, and combat, of which there will be plenty, focusing on ranged engagements.
Of course, the video also showcases the REV-8, which is the first land vehicle introduced in Starfield.
The Shattered Space expansion coming on September 30, 2024. Starfield is currently available for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
The expansion starts with a mysterious distress signal sent from a derelict space station, leading the player to Va’Ruun’kai, where they will meet a secretive sect worshipping the “Great Serpent.”
The planet has been hit by a cataclysm, raising the tension further, especially considering that the leader of House Va’ruun has disappeared, leaving a power vacuum that smaller houses are trying to exploit.
Interestingly, the developers tease that our choices in the expansion’s quests could influence the entirety of the Settled Systems, albeit they don’t explain how or why.
It’s pretty obvious that the folks at Bethesda are working hard to address the points of criticism that have been moved to the base game when it launched, and we’ll have to wait and see whether the expansion will be less polarized in its reception.
