Earlier this year, EA announced that Skate. would be making its way back into the limelight after a 15-year hiatus, coming to early access at some point in 2025. Today, the beloved skateboarding franchise gave a sneak peek at the next installment via its latest Grind Volume development diary, detailing how customization, music, and the live-service model will impact the game.

Customization has always been a core part of creating your skater in the Skate franchise, and this next installment promises to continue to put an emphasis on creativity. Players will be able to create and personalize their skater from head to toe, expressing their unique style through a boatload of unlockable cosmetics and rewards that will be unlocked via gameplay progression and optional premium content.

Alongside costumes and appearances, music will also be discoverable as you skate through San Vansterdam, as the soundtrack will feature everything from emerging artists to deep cuts that only old heads will truly be able to appreciate. You can see a sample of the artists that will be in the game below:

  • Turnstile
  • Denzel Curry
  • Little Simz
  • Skeggs
  • Earth Wind & Fire
  • MF Doom

Unlike previous entries in the series, Skate. is set to follow a new Live-Service Seasonal Model. This will make it so that themes, new world features, challenges, cosmetics, music, and the brand new skate pass will cycle and rotate. This pass will include both free and paid paths, offering rewards and Seasonal Challenges as they are released, with the first season starting shortly after early access launch and lasting about three months, meaning there will be about four per year.
