Stardew Valley has released update 1.6.12, yet another update this week after 1.6.9 rolled out on consoles and PC. This brought consoles the 1.6 content for the first time while adding some new adjustments and bug fixes for PC players.
Unfortunately, 1.6.9 also brought several unexpected bugs across all platforms, and 1.6.12 is the third update in three days to address problems. 1.6.10 through 1.6.12 has rolled out for PC but are still being rolled out on consoles because of the process of updating games on various stores (Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox).
ConcernedApe is dedicated to making sure Stardew Valley is working (and balanced well) for everyone. Balance adjustments in 1.6.12 include foraging experience changes, adding a few new things that give experience:
- Digging special dirt spots
- Collecting ginger
- Chopping twigs
- Panning for resources
- Chopping trees and stumps gives more experience than before
Additionally, the traveling saleswoman Sandy will now sell basic pants. Clothes aren’t easy to come by in Stardew Valley at the start, so this is a great addition.
There were quite a few bugs tackled with Stardew Valley 1.6.12:
- Crab pots giving the wrong quantity of items
- Secret gift recipient hint not showing up
- Sound effects not sounding right when using headphones
- Visual issues with Cyrillic font characters
Critical crash bugs were also part of the update. Players can now use the telephone, connect to wrongly formatted IP addresses, and have better stability in LAN multiplayer that isn’t connected to a server.
At this point, multiplayer is the most bugged area of Stardew Valley, and players are reporting more game-crashing bugs. ConcernedApe has reiterated that he’s focused solely on Stardw Valley updates right now and making sure it’s in a good spot before continuing work on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier.
