The Esports World Cup has officially finalized its full roster of games, as Starcraft 2 was just announced as title 24 out of 24 for the event.
This should come as no surprise to anyone who followed the event last year, where Clem was crowned the 2024 world champions. This will be the second time the game has been featured for the event, since it will only be the second such instance of it, which is set to take place later this year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 7 to August 24.
Starcraft 2 is set to join Overwatch 2 as the only other Blizzard game that will be a part of the Esports World Cup 2025. The rest of the slate is made up of everything from racers like Rennsport to strategy titles like Chess.
Qualifiers are already underway for players and teams, requiring them to compete in multiple events via one of these three formats: a knockout stage, a points rush, and a grand final. The Esports World Cup 2025 has a collective pot of $60 million for its winners, with each title featuring a $1,250,000 prize pool that will be distributed in the following ways:
- 1st Place: $500,000
- 2nd Place: $230,000
- 3rd-4th Place: $100,000 each
- 5th-8th Place: $40,000 each
- 9th-16th Place: $20,000 each
Tickets for the event are now available, and can be purchased based on a weekly competition basis. Those who buy in the first wave will receive unlimited access and Fast Track entry to every esports tournament from Thursday to Sunday during the week you select, as well as unlimited access to 50,000 square meters of immersive activities for fans, including over 35 games to play.
