Today Ubisoft released an extensive video of the upcoming open-world action-adventure game Star Wars Outlaws.
The video is quite interesting as it brings us into a deep dive into the game’s complex underworld.
We start with a look at some of the characters we’ll meet, including the former Confederacy commando droid ND-5 and the crime lord Sliro, introduced directly by the developers.
We also learn about some of the crime syndicates that we’ll have to contend with, including Sliro’s own Zerek Besh, the well-known Hutt Cartel, the Pykes, Crimson Dawn, and the Ashiga Clan.
The video also introduces the reputation system, which lets the player craft their relationships with each criminal cartel. The reputation that we’ll build with them will impact the way they’ll behave toward us, giving discounts on the price of goods or even letting us enter areas that we wouldn’t otherwise be allowed into.
Of course, a negative reputation means that encountering a hostile syndicate will turn potentially lethal.
Star Wars Outlaws releases in just over a month on August 30, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game is developed by Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment studio in the proprietary Snowdrop Engine, and it tells the story of Kay Vess, a young outlaw who builds a team of like-minded (not always) individuals to pull off the biggest heist the galaxy has ever seen.
This is a pretty original theme for a Star Wars game, considering that we usually get to play as a Jedi, while in Star Wars Outlaws we take a look at a completely different perspective closer to Han Solo than to Luke or Anakin Skywalker.
One of the few times we got to play the scoundrel before was with one of the classes of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and it certainly was one of the better storylines in that game.
