Following the reveal of the Argo ATLS mech suit on the testing servers, Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released an update introducing it to the live servers.

The suit comes with a special tractor beam making it one of the best options to load and unload large cargo ships manually.

The update Alpha 3.24.1 9324446 that has just been released makes it available to the live servers, albeit, for the moment, it requires a purchase starting at $42.70 to be acquired. In subsequent patches, it’ll be made available for purchase with in-game credits.

You can see it in action in the trailer below.

The update also includes plenty of bug fixes.

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Citizen, it’s a crowdfunded multiplayer open-world sandbox space simulator that has been in development for several years. It’s directed by Chris Roberts of Wing Commander fame.

The game has recently passed $722 million in crowdfunding ($722,679,395 at the moment of this writing) and counts 5,341,941 registered users. Of course, many of them aren’t paying customers, as they register accounts to enjoy Free Fly Events.

A a massive update numbered 4.0 is planned for release at some point this year introducing a whole new star system and many more features.

A single-player campaign named Squadron 42 is also in development (and we learned last year that it was feature-complete) , starring an exceptional cast of famous actors including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, Gillian Anderson, and more.

If you’re interested in Star Citizen, learning how to fly certainly won’t hurt. To that end, you can enjoy our helpful guide on how to get started with flight simulators.

Full disclosure: the author of this article has backed Star Citizen’s crowdfunding campaign.
