Today is Greycat, Argo, and Consolidated Outland Day at Star Citizen’s Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2955, and a new Greycat vehicle has been released.

The Greycat MDC is likely one of the most welcome addition to the lineup of ground vehicles in Star Citizen, as it carries a point-defense turret that can automatically target and shot down incoming bomb and missiles. It can even target small ships, although these will be quite a lot harder to shot down compared to ordinance.

Considering how devastating can bombs be when you’re out and about and someone with a bomber decides to ruin your day, I’m fairly sure many will love the MDC.

While it comes by default with a ballistic gatling, you can also purchase (with in-game money) laser and missile turrets.

You can see how it works and hear the word of the developers in the video below. More ships released during IAE 2955 include the RSI Perseus and Salvation, the Drake Clipper and Golem OX, and the Kruger Intergalactic L-22 Alpha Wolf.

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Citizen, it’s a PC exclusive, crowdfunded project directed by Chris Roberts of Wing Commander fame. It’s a multiplayer sandbox space simulator that has been in development for over a decade and in alpha for several years. It just received version 4.4 with the third star system, Nyx.

The crowdfunding total for the game just passed $903 million today, and it’s currently sitting at $903,121,263. The game currently has 6,087,431 registered accounts, but we know that not all are paying customers.

Some are alt accounts, while others are simply created to enjoy the “Free Fly” periods in which the game is available for free without requiring a purchase for a limited time. A Free Fly event is currently ongoing for IAE 2955 and will end on December 3.

It’s notable that Star Citizen’s funding tally for 2025 has already passed the previous yearly record, and it’s still November.

A single-player campaign titled Squadron 42 is also in active development with a 2026 release window, starring an exceptional cast of famous actors, including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, Gillian Anderson, and more.

Since the project has been in development for over a decade, you can see how Squadron 42 has evolved since its first reveal.

Full disclosure: the author of this article has backed Star Citizen’s crowdfunding campaign.
