Today Ukrainian studio GSC Game World released a new trailer of its upcoming first-person shooter survival horror game Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
This time around, the trailer focuses on the vast open world that players can freely explore measuring over 60 square kilometers (21 square miles). If you need a comparison, the popular The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has a world that measures 15 square miles.
We get to see familiar locations that we may have seen in documentaries, like the Duga radar array near Chornobyl itself, alongside many other locations, both in the wilderness of the Zone and inside its many interior locations.
The atmosphere is certainly very eerie, as you would expect from a disaster zone, and it’s conveyed perfectly by the game’s visuals and lighting.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl releases on November 20, 2024, following a slight delay that has been recently announced. The game has been in development for a long time, but it certainly appears that it has been worth the wait. I played a demo last year at Gamescom, and I can certainly see that it looks much more polished now.
If you’d like to see more of this highly anticipated game, recently we saw an extensive deep dive from the developers, also showcasing plenty of the game’s locations, alongside combat gameplay and the creatures that live in the Zone.
Incidentally, the game will be playable at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, next week, so if you want to give a try to a demo and you’re at the event, you can swing by the Xbox booth to explore part of the Zone yourself between August 21 and August 25.
