Square Enix Limited has decided to expand its distribution deal with Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, letting the group handle the developer’s physical game released across additional European markets.

Bandai Namco has been in charge of Square Enix’s physical releases in France, Australia, and New Zealand. This new distribution deal adds the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Nordic countries to Bandai Namco’s charge. Considering Square Enix signed this deal, it’s clear that Bandai Namco has don its job well in those markets.

VP of Business Development and the Southern European Market for Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, Alberto Gonzalez, shared thoughts on the impact of this deal:

“This expansion highlights the fantastic work Bandai Namco has been doing for the past years in the French and ANZ markets. Solidifying our relationship with Square Enix cements us as a prime distribution partner for Japanese publishers in the European market.”

Karine Parker, the Senior Director of Sales and Operations in Europe, also shared excitement for the deal:

“Square Enix is delighted to expand this existing partnership with the very experienced and qualified team at Bandai Namco Entertainment. We are happy to solidify business potential for our physical game releases across Europe together and build a successful future.”

This deal will cover Square Enix’s physical releases, which will be those on consoles (and, like most Square Enix’s games, mostly on PlayStation). PC releases have historically listed Square Enix itself as both developer and publisher.

Square Enix is one of the biggest names in video game development. It’s responsible for franchises like Final Fantasy (which has saved the group when other games didn’t perform well). The group is known for its commitment to great JRPGs, and it recently rescued Fantasian from mobile jail.

Likewise, Bandai Namco is one of the biggest names in video games. Not only does it distribute major games in several regional markets, but it also develops games and houses NAMCO, another industry powerhouse.

The distribution deal between Square Enix and Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe will start on February 1.
