Today Korean developer Shift Up, known for Stellar Blade and Goddes of Victory: Nikke, announced its financial results for Q3 of 2024, between July and September.

The results were extremely positive according to the documentation provided by the developer. Revenue for the quarter was 58,018 billion Won, up 52.3% year-on-year. Operating profit was 35,577 billion won, up a massive 120.4% year-on-year.

Within the Q&A session of the financial release, Shift Up mentioned that a PC release of Stellar Blade (which so far has been launched only for PS5) is being considered within 2024. The developer also expects sales on PC to be even better than on consoles.

“The release is being considered within 2025. Considering recent trends such as Steam’s expanding market share in the AAA game sector and the global success of “Black Myth: Wukong,” we expect the performance on PC to exceed that on consoles.”

We also learn that sales for the game have continued at a “stabilized rate” into Q3 following the release on PS5 in April 2025 (which would be Q2, since Shift up uses the calendar year and not the fiscal year for its financial results).

The consistent release of patch and updates helped sustain the game’s popularity and Shift Up plans to keep going until the game releases on new platforms with the addition of the NieR: Automata crossover DLC and ongoing marketing activities.

Moving on to Goddess of Victory: Nikke, which is currently available for iOS, Android, and PC, we hear that while the developers managed to maintain stable user traffic from Q2 to Q3, the Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover event was “somewhat underwhelming” as the characters did not fully resonate with the users.

“In 3Q ‘24, the global result of GoV: Nikke reached 34.2 billion KRW, a decrease of 11%p QoQ, which was 38.5 billion KRW. We were able to maintain stable user traffic through the July summer event and the August Evangelion collaboration event, ahead of the 2nd Anniversary event.

Yet, the result of the Evangelion collaboration event was somewhat underwhelming. We identified that the collaboration characters did not fully resonate with our users. For the 2025 collaboration events, we will closely incorporate user feedback on the collaboration conducted in 2024.”

For Q4 (between October and December) the developer is implementing the 2nd Anniversary event (which is currently ongoing) and the Winter event.

The characters and skins released in the 2nd Anniversary event have received a “great response” from the users. According to Shift Up, in the first week after the launch of the event the game achieved very highest iOS market revenue rankings: first in Korea, second in Japan, and first in Taiwan.

Other gaming companies have also already announced their latest financial results, including Koei Tecmo, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Konami, Marvelous, Nintendo, Bandai Namco, Take-Two, Krafton, Warner Bros. Discovery, Sega, Sony, and Square Enix.
