The Seafarer: The Ship Sim LNG & Bulk update is free for all players, adding LNG and bulk cargo mechanics, new vessels, expanded container operations, and fresh open-sea events. This is the first of many updates set to come to the game across the rest of 2025 and throughout all of 2026.

More than anything, players will now have cargo transport options, which you can get a sneak peek of in the trailer below:

One of the standouts of the above trailer is the newly added ship, “Willy,” which is designed to transport bulk goods such as sand. Alternatively, the brand new gas tanker, “Nordic Duchess,” is the right choice for carrying LNG. Container shipping also receives an exciting addition, adding “Big Trip,” also known as the largest container ship in the world of Seafarer.

In addition to bug fixes and ongoing performance optimizations for smoother voyages, the update also includes new random events that bring more variety to the open sea, such as assisting other vessels in distress.

For those who may not have heard of Seafarer: The Ship Sim, the simulator gives players control over various ships and have the opportunity to join a handful of different factions. Depending on your choice, you’ll embark on specific missions, like cargo transportation, fire-fighting on open waters, high-stakes rescues, and treasure recovery.

Ships vary from nimble tugboats to massive freighters, each of which is fully interactive and explorable, allowing you to conduct maintenance, operate heavy machinery, and even take control of water cannons to battle onboard fires in some of the more challenging missions that take place in the game.

Seafarer: The Ship Sim is available now on Steam for $24.99. For more info on the upcoming roadmap and other ship simulators, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
