Some of these battle tactics are based on the original game with the Power Up kit, like All Officers Play and All Periods Scenarios. However, there are plenty of new ways to make a mark as players focus on unifying Ancient China.

These new battle styles, dubbed transformed battles, focus on human relationships as well as battle prowess. Carefully managing the leaders’ and soldiers’ relationships in the army is crucial to strengthening it. Friendly leaders can work together to create dramatic scenarios.

Players will have the option to force soldiers to join the militia if they need troops quickly. However, people tend to not like this; the cities where the conscription takes place will have lower public order.

A low public order means that they won’t participate in the conscription. While this is a tricky concept to master in one’s own cities, it’s a great technique to disrupt enemy cities. Lower an enemy’s city’s public order enough, and they can’t conscript from it.

Luckily, that’s not the only way to get soldiers. Drafts happen each season, and the larger a city’s population, the more soldiers will come.

Having good battle sense is equally as important as having healthy territories. Planning out what equipment to bring to various terrains can make or break a battle. This applies to attacking, sieging cities, and even defending areas.

Placing traps and limiting the enemy’s line of sight are valid options for winning battles, and ultimately the war.

In the original Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 with the Power Up Kit, there were 15 tactics to choose from. In the remake, there will be over 40, balancing each one to make sure they’re all viable.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake will be released on October 24, 2024, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
