The promotion takes a step further compared to the usual experience dedicated to real-world brands and products, and it’s one that will make Metaverse enthusiasts perk up. It actually lets you purchase tickets for the movie.

While it doesn’t go quite as far as letting you watch the movie directly in the game (but you are able to watch a trailer), eligible users will be able to access a virtual box office to purchase the tickets. To be eligible, you need to live in the United States and be over 13 years old.

Those who purchase the tickets will also receive an exclusive avatar item to use in Roblox. This is a first for the game, as its developers are looking to invest in e-commerce opportunities.

Those who don’t meet the age or location requirements will still be able to check out the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice experience, titled [Beetlejuice] Escape the Afterlife and developed by Sawhorse Interactive.

Stephanie Latham, Roblox VP of Global Partnerships, explains the philosophy behind the initiative:

“We are thrilled to bring the cultural phenomenon of Beetlejuice to Roblox through this collaboration, including our creator community involvement helping drive the excitement around the film,.

As we continue to test commerce, offering an opportunity to purchase tickets within the movie-inspired immersive environment is a way to explore a new consumer category and further engage users who are looking to purchase different things.

This is just the beginning as our vision is to enable brands and creators to turn their brand affinity and consumer engagement on Roblox into a seamless shopping experience for their new and existing audiences.”

We also hear from Sawhorse Interactive Co-Founder and Head of Interactive Nic Hill:

“The Beetlejuice franchise carries so much sentiment and appeal across generations, especially for superfans like me.

But we knew we had to create a Beetlejuice experience on Roblox that introduces new generations to the story and adapts to their way of interaction inside the Beetlejuice Universe. With [Beetlejuice] Escape the Afterlife, Warner Bros. and Sawhorse brought to life a true adventure that appeals to all ages with elements like the escape theme and exclusive content.”

The experience includes a lobby and three immersive worlds, in which visitors will be prompted to escape hostile ghouls and rescue characters like Delia, Lydia, and Astrid. You’ll also be able to visit the Waiting Room and Adam’s model of Winter River, Connecticut.

Roblox is currently available on a variety of platforms, including PC, Xbox One, PS4, iOS, Android, and Meta Quest. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice releases in theaters in the US on September 6, 2024.
