Ground Shatter is behind the BAFTA-nominated Fights in Tight Spaces. The studio also recently released a sequel, Knights in Tight Spaces. The Director and found, James Parker, is excited about the acquisition:

“Having built Ground Shatter up over the past decade, joining the Reforged Studios family presented a rare opportunity to join an experienced team with a clear and exciting approach that allows Ground Shatter to keep doing what it does best, and also providing the studio the potential to grow further and faster with the support and the resources of the Reforged Studios group.”

Extra Mile Studios has worked on the Broken Sword series as a co-developer with Revolution Software. While the group has worked on several titles as an outsourcing asset, it’s tried to publish its own games as well. However, Director Bobby Farmer is excited about the potential for the studio’s own games with Reforged Studios help:

“Since Extra Mile was founded in 2004, we are proud to have been a reliable outsourcing partner for many great companies on numerous high-profile games. We have also self-published a few of our own games – but not so well! So when we started talking to the guys at Reforged about their ambitions to take on bigger scale outsourcing projects and combine that with proven publishing talent, it seemed like the perfect fit for us. The team and I are looking forward to a successful future as part of the Reforged Studios group.”

In 2023, Reforged Studios was founded by gaming industry veterans Peter van der Watt, Ross Laurie, and Colin Anderson. Between the three professionals, their experience includes time with Blazing Griffin, Epic Games, Rockstar Games, and Denki.

The group is focused on helping studios meet their potential, both creatively and in sales. At the same time, Reforged wants its studios to function autonomously and to keep creative control over the games.

The CEO, Peter van der Watt, is also excited about the acquisitions:

“I was already a big fan of the games the teams at Ground Shatter and Extra Mile had built, and yet I could see that both teams still had a lot of potential to grow their success even further with the right support around them. When we made the list of studios we wanted to become part of Reforged, Ground Shatter and Extra Mile were right at the very top. Fortunately, both studios were as excited about the possibilities as we were, and so we are thrilled that they are now joining us on our journey.”
