Today, solo developer Stefan Kelnberger and publisher astragon Entertainment announced the next stop for their sandbox railway simulator Railroads online.
Railroads Online is now set to fully release for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC (Steam) on December 5, 2024. The simulator has been in early access on Steam since October 2021.
Since its early access release four years ago, Stefan Kelnberger’s indie train title has grown considerably, introducing over 20 locomotives and 30 cars, with 21 types of freight, three new maps, and over 120 props and environments. You can check out the full end of early access trailer below:
If you’re still looking for a little more info and background on the game, Railroads Online showcased a gameplay trailer early last month that gives fans an idea of what to expect for the full release. Alongside the features mentioned above, players can also enjoy an online multiplayer mode with up to 16 players, the ability to build and customize their own tracks and locations, and a slew of realistic physics systems that railroad fans will surely enjoy.
Railroads Online will be available digitally on consoles for a price point of $39.99 and is available on PC for $34.99 USD. The Pioneer DLC is also available separately for all platforms for $2.99$ – players who own the Steam Early Access version of the game receive the DLC for free.
On February 27, 2025, PS5 players will also be able to purchase a retail version of Railroads Online – Pioneer Edition, though it will only be released in retail in selected countries. It will contain the base game and the Pioneer DLC and will cost $39.99.
